Was There A Train Station Where the Tracks Cross Kennebec Road?
by Jim Husson This is a picture of the train station at the intersection of Western Ave. and the train tracks that cross over it. From the looks of the cars, it is circa 1940. This building still stands. If you look closely, you can see the HAMPDEN sign. However, was there ever a train station at the intersection of Kennebec Road and the train tracks? I found these two items in my postal history collection. These are postal-facing slips that label bundles of mail being sent

Interesting Bits from the Museum Kitchen
Jerry Stanhope and Nancy McAvoy showed us many fun finds from the museum including a butter press, a flour sifter, a portable writing desk, a recipe book from a time when the Society put on fundraising dinners, numerous apothecary items for skinned knees, chapped skin and upset tummies, a pie crimper and, surprise--a hoop to go under a skirt! Our Christmas Bazaar was a resounding success
With thanks to all who came to our Christmas Bazaar and shopped, we experienced a very successful day. Thank you for the advertising help from Fox 22 Bangor/WFVX news feature and WLBZ Samantha York's "Things to do in Maine." A huge thank you to every volunteer who donated and baked items for sale, cleaned, set up, decorated, greeted, staffed tables, managed monies, and cleaned up. You are magnificent.
